Project Feeder Watch
"Project FeederWatch turns your love of feeding birds into scientific discoveries. FeederWatch is a November-April survey of birds that visit backyards, nature centers, community areas, and other locales in North America. You don’t even need a feeder! All you need is an area from which you like to watch birds. Plus, the schedule is completely flexible: you can count every week or once all winter, for as much or as little time as you like.

WHEN YOU JOIN FEEDERWATCH YOU WILL RECEIVE:
• Tools to track and learn about your birds on our website or mobile app
• Our year-end summary, Winter Bird Highlights
• Our double-sided poster of eastern and western common feeder birds (optional)
• Our calendar (optional)
• Digital access to the Cornell Lab’s Living Bird magazine (U.S. participants)
The Importance of Bird Baths
Bird baths help mitigate the impacts of urban deserts, drinking (water helps keep a bird's body cool both from the inside and outside), preening and feather maintenance (they insulate, waterproof and provide the power of flight), as well as provide a crucial form of play and social interaction.

* Always defer to local authorities regarding avian flu issues and precautions!
Bird Safe Windows!
Glass collisions are taking a huge toll on our birds, with up to a billion birds being killed each year in the U. S. Birds don’t understand windows the way we do – they can’t tell reflections from reality. What appears to them as forest and sky often turns out to be merely a reflection in a solid piece of glass.
About half of those billion bird deaths occur on residential windows, making homeowners a vital part of the solution. Luckily, there are many window treatments that are fairly inexpensive and easy to apply that will allow you to do your part in preventing window strikes and saving bird’s lives. Check out this helpful brochure (Bird Safe Home Brochure) to learn about some of the many effective DIY and commercial options available.
